Dr. Richard Gilman graduated from University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1977 with a background in Microbiology from the University of Kansas (Hon B.S. Microbiology, 1973). He served as an intern at Washington University School of Medicine (Jewish Hospital of St. Louis) in 1977 and 1978. His Periodontal Specialty Training at UMKC School of Dentistry and the V.A. Medical Center, Leavenworth, Kansas was teaching and research oriented leading to a Masters of Science in Oral Biology in 1981. He served as an Assistant Professor of Periodontology at UMKC School of Dentistry from 1980 until 1986, during which time he performed Periodontal Research, trained students of Dentistry and Dental Hygiene as well as Residents in Periodontics. During these years he maintained a private practice limited to Periodontics two days a week. A full time specialty practice was pursued from 1986 until the present.
Dr. Gilman continues his teaching tradition to the profession, the community and the university with lectures and seminars. Our office has been chosen by the Dental School for Externship of Dental and Dental Hygiene Students to this day.
